Fun and Exercise Outdoors: RYHEALTH FUNathon in Ostpark Munich with Campus di Monaco (CdM) and Outdoor Against Cancer (OAC)

On 25 July 2024, a special event took place in Munich’s Ostpark, bringing together around 130 children and young people, as well as 35 adults: the RYHEALTH FUNathon. The aim of the event was to inspire participants to enjoy physical activity, strengthen team spirit, and boost self-confidence.
In small groups, participants tackled 18 different physical challenges – from a skateboard course and memory games to team tasks such as building a human pyramid. The focus was on having fun, while also developing both physical and mental skills.
Alongside the RYHEALTH Activity Project, the Happiness Project and the Sustainability Project also played an important role. Exercising in the fresh air contributed to overall well-being, and by making use of the green park space, sustainability was actively promoted – including the responsibility of leaving no waste behind.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed the desire for more time to fully experience all the activity stations. PE teacher Yannick Schäfer also emphasised the significance of such events for everyday school life: “Exercise can be wonderfully combined with other subjects – whether it’s maths, biology, or simply exploring nature together.”
Conclusion: The event was a great success! To achieve a lasting positive effect, similar activities should be organised regularly, integrating physical movement into daily life.
