Significant Advances in Student Health Literacy
 
Date and Occasion
On April 10, 2024, experts from the RYHEALTH consortium partners in education, sports, healthcare, and communication gathered for a digital meeting. More information about the partners can be found here.
 
Objective 
The meeting aimed to significantly advance health education in schools and optimize internal processes. RYHEALTH is supported by the EU4Health Program and is a key project within the European Plan to Combat Cancer.
 
Focus
The initiative focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle across four main themes: Activity, Nutrition, Sustainability, and Happiness. The goal is to strengthen health education for children and adolescents at primary and secondary levels to prevent non-communicable diseases such as cancer, obesity, depression, and cardiovascular diseases.
 
Key Discussion Topics 
  • Division of the questionnaire for more effective data collection.
  •  Development and optimization of educational materials for the RYHEALTH Toolbox.
  • Teacher training to support effective curriculum implementation.
  • Increasing active participation of students, teachers, and parents, as well as other stakeholder organizations.
  • Application and further development of the RYHEALTH Toolbox to make health education in schools more efficient.
  • Intensifying community involvement to sustainably integrate students, teachers, and parents into the project and general health education.
  • Discussion on how to better involve political stakeholders and organizations, as well as other EU-funded projects like School4Health or Prevent, to promote European Childhood Health Literacy.
 
Project Management
Discussion covered the coordination of the project, project management, internal communication, and the further development of the RYHEALTH Toolbox and website.
 
Future Events
The discussion included upcoming EU-wide events, particularly during the European Week of Sports from September 23 to 30, 2024, to maximize the project's reach and impact.
