School + Active and Healthy

Project RYHEALTH in the Primary School of Montemor-o-Velho (Portugal)

On April 24th, the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra organized an event in partnership with the Primary School of Montemor-o-Velho as part of the European project RYHEALTH. The event, called "A Traditional Market", aimed to engage students from 1st to 4th grade (aged 6 to 10 years) in a morning of recreational and sports activities filled with joy.

At the same time, the students, teachers, and guardians organized a market where products from the region, provided by families, were sold. There was a wide variety of items available, including fruits, vegetables, bread, plants, and many other products. All guardians, parents, relatives, and friends were invited to come and support the event by purchasing healthy goods at the "school market."

The European project “RYHEALTH – A holistic approach to rocking your health” aims to bring together schools, families, children, and young people in the promotion of healthy lifestyles from childhood onwards. The project is based on 4 intervention pillars, namely the importance of physical exercise, healthy eating, physical and psychological well-being and sustainability.
